Pipeline Coatings Options

Coatings such as fusion-bonded epoxy, extruded polyethylene, and asphalt are often used to prevent corrosion and reduce friction.

Fusion-Bonded Epoxy (FBE)

This is a widely used coating for its excellent adhesion to steel, corrosion resistance, and relatively easy application. High-temperature FBE coatings are specially designed to perform at elevated temperatures.

Three-layer Polyethylene (3LPE)

These are often used for their high resistance to impact and abrasion, and good resistance to UV radiation. The 3LPP system is generally preferred over 3LPE for high-temperature applications as it has superior high-temperature resistance.

Polyurethane Coatings

High-temperature polyurethane coatings are also used for pipeline applications due to their good performance in harsh environmental conditions and wide temperature ranges.

High-Temperature Resistant Epoxies

There are specially formulated epoxies available that resist high temperatures while offering excellent corrosion protection.
